For individuals that have developed intermediate level of independent living skills and need only minmal assistance, LDA of WNY offers a Supportive Living Program. Housed at variouse sites in the North Buffalo area the Supportive Living Program is designed to be the final step before living independently in one's own home.
Consisting of 8 fully furnished two bedroom apartments, this program provides staff spport as often as the person requires. For some, this support may be once a week for a few hours to help with budgeting or to provide transportation to a community activity. For others, support mah be required several days per week, for much longer periods of time. Trained staff is also available by phone 24 hours per day.
The primary focus of the program is place on refining the skills necessary to transition successfully to independent living. There is also a strong emphasis on the acquistion of of self-advocacy skills and the development of a personal support system, including family, friends and peers.
