The LDA of WNY is hiring for a number of full and part time direct-care positions in our Habilitation and Residential Departments, as well as Early Literacy Tutors for our LEAD716 program. 

 

All dates are 1PM-4PM at our Main Office, 2555 Elmwood Avenue, Kenmore, NY 14217. Parking is available on Washington Street.

Current Job Opportunities:

Habilitation Specialist, Community Habilitation, Erie and Chautauqua. Start Date: ASAP, Full-Time and Part-Time, $12.30/hr.
Model and provide instruction, services, and supports to participants in activities of daily living including shopping and meal preparation, personal hygiene, travel training, employment-related issues, money management, community integration, medical appointments, and any other skills needed to enable the individual to live as independently as possible.

Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Valid NYS Driver's License with a clean DMV record.

Flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays as the needs of the individual require.

BI-LINGUAL English/Spanish Habilitation Specialist, Community Habilitation, Erie and Chautauqua. Start Date: ASAP, Full-Time and Part-Time, $13.30/hr.
Model and provide instruction, services, and supports to participants in activities of daily living including shopping and meal preparation, personal hygiene, travel training, employment-related issues, money management, community integration, medical appointments, and any other skills needed to enable the individual to live as independently as possible.

Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Valid NYS Driver's License with a clean DMV record.

Flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays as the needs of the individual require.

Residential Counselor- (Group Home) FT and PT $11.10 hour.

Job Duties: Model and provide instruction, services and supports to program participants in needed skill areas and activities of daily living, such as:
Household tasks – cooking, cleaning, laundry, safety issues, etc., shopping, healthy diet and healthy meal preparation,
social skills, money management and budgeting, community integration (involvement/utilization), community travel and transportation, Health and medical issues, any skills needed to enable the individual to live as independently as possible.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High School Diploma or GED (experience in the DD/human services field preferred)
•    High School Diploma preferred; however, relevant life experience will be considered
•    Clean Driving Record


 

 

Early Childhood Education Professional – Part-time / Per diem –– work hours primarily weekday mornings (2-15 hours per week) $25-32 per hour

The Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York (LDA of WNY) is seeking per diem / part-time, highly-qualified Early Childhood Education Professionals for an innovative program called “LEAD716.” This program provides critically-needed early intervention to preschool children in WNY diagnosed with elevated levels of lead in their blood.

 

Children who have been exposed to lead are at greater risk of learning disabilities, lower IQ scores, speech and hearing issues, as well as attention and behavior problems. LEAD716 is working to mitigate the negative effects of lead during a critical period in brain development.

 

Our program serves 2-5 year old children who have been diagnosed with elevated blood lead levels in the Buffalo area. Sessions take place in Pre-K, Head Start, daycare, or in the child’s home.

 

This position requires designing and implementing high quality, play-based learning experiences and instruction with 2-5 year-old children individually or in very small group sessions in the child’s daycare, preschool, or home in one-hour weekly sessions. Focus on evidence-based interventions that promote early literacy, social and emotional development. The child’s family will be included in the process to promote learning opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).

New York State teaching certification in Elementary, Birth – 2, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or Social Work.

Must have experience working with preschool-aged children.

Other professional qualifications and education will be considered. Individuals with experience home-visiting and or bilingual are encouraged to apply. Tutors must be able to pass a thorough background check, work well with a diverse population, and be dedicated to improving educational achievement and social and emotional well-being of children.
