The LDA of WNY signed a Memorandum of Support for two legislative bills: Assembly bill A03899 and Senate bill S03941, to give all schools in New York State access to students’ blood lead tests, which is necessary to help schools identify children with a history of lead poisoning and carefully monitor their educational progress as recommended by the CDC. Specifically, the proposed legislation will "Grant schools access to a student's blood lead information in the statewide immunization information system in order to provide appropriate educational services."
The Executive Summary and Decision Chart for Children Affected by Lead from Educational Interventions for Children Affected by Lead, an expert panel report published by the CDC in 2015, can be found here.
